Easy and Quick Fried Fish

On days that I like to indulge in a simple meal, I opt for this easy fried fish! I use the word indulge because I do not consume fried foods more than twice a week even though it’s so good! Health is wealth so I really try to find a nice balance between healthy and not so healthy.

For my fried fish, I love using Louisiana’s Fish Fry Seafood Breading Mix which offers a New Orleans style taste. I still have to season my fish beforehand since I love everything seasoned with love, of course!

Tilapia is actually my favorite fish and one of the only few fishes I enjoy eating. I love that it’s not too fishy and the meat is thick, fluffy, just perfect for my texture preference.

Ingredients

Directions

  • Start by rinsing the tilapia and patting dry with paper towels. Then place them in a large mixing bowl.
  • Season the fish starting with the olive oil then add in sugar, salt, garlic powder, black pepper, paprika and oregano. Mix well.
  • I cover the bowl with a lid and shake well which seems to do the trick!
  • Preheat large frying pan filled with 1/3 of vegetable oil over medium-low heat for 5 mins or so. Coat the fish with the flour and place into pan.
  • Fry for 10 mins or until golden brown. I flip it towards the end just to ensure the entire fish is crispy since I don’t fill my pan halfway with oil.
  • Line a plate with paper towels to remove excess oil for the fish. Remove fish from pan onto plate. Allow it to cool for a minute or so.
  • Pair fish with French fries for a super simple meal or spice things up and pair it with collard greens, candied yams and corn bread. Enjoy!
