On mornings where I want something filling but quick, I turn to these sausage, egg and cheese biscuits. It’s packed with proteins and it doesn’t take much effort to make which is usually what I strive for after my morning workout.
Growing up, I would get similar biscuits from McDonald’s or Burger King and they were pretty satisfying. As I got older, I realized their eggs weren’t seasoned which makes it a little more plain than I prefer. My recipe is fairly similar but the key difference is in the seasoning of the eggs. This adds more flavor to the overall biscuit and makes for a tasty breakfast that you can simply enjoy.
Wherever we eat breakfast biscuits, I notice Twon always spread jelly onto his biscuits. Personally, I’m good with just the savory flavors but if you want to add sweetness to it then try it out! Another quick breakfast option would be the Breakfast Bowl which is also packed with proteins and very fulfilling! 12 oz of Johnsonville Original Recipe Breakfast Sausage Patties
7-8 large eggs
8 slices of cheese
Seasonings for eggs:
1/2 tsp of sugar
1/2 tsp of garlic powder
1/4 tsp of sea salt
1/4 tsp of paprika
1/4 tsp of parsley flakes
1/4 tsp of Weber Kick’n Chicken seasoning
1/8 tsp of black pepper
Directions
- Follow instructions on label and preheat oven to 350 degrees for the biscuits.
- Then season the eggs with sugar, garlic powder, sea salt, paprika, parsley flakes, Kick’N Chicken and black pepper. Mix well and set aside.
- Place biscuits onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and put it in the oven for 13 mins.
- Preheat medium-sized nonstick skillet over lower heat and add 1 tbsp of olive oil. Wait 2-3 mins for oil to heat up then pour in egg mixture. Allow it to cook for 10 mins or so then flip it and cook the eggs for another minute or two.
- While the biscuits are baking and the eggs are cooking, prepare the sausage patties by flattening with a spoon. This ensures that the patties will fit nicely into the larger biscuits.
- Preheat the griddle to 275 degrees then spray with a nonstick oil. Allow it to heat for a min or so then add the patties. Cook on each side for 4-5 mins.
- Remove biscuits from the oven and slice in halves.
- Remove eggs from pan and cut into 9 parts (it won’t be even and that’s okay!)
- Now you can prepare the biscuits starting with the sausage, egg then cheese. I like to throw it back into the oven for a few short mins while the oven is still hot to allow the cheese to melt. Add a side of fresh fruits and tada- breakfast is served!
Notes
- If the oven isn’t hot enough and the cheese isn’t melting quickly then turn the oven back to 350 degrees and let it heat for 3 mins or sp
