Hi! Welcome to My Food Blog.
My name is Soneta (pronounced Son nee da) and I was born and raised in Saint Paul, MN to Cambodian refugee parents. From an early age, I was taught the importance of education which led me to pursue an undergraduate degree in both accounting and business administration, as well as a masters in business.
Currently, I am working remotely within the financial reporting world while also being a full time mother to my 3 year-old son, Rari, whom I share with my longtime beau, Twon. Additionally, we have a 5 year-old Shichon dog named Ruffles so you can imagine just how hectic weekdays are here!
Cooking Background
Growing up in a Cambodian household and being part of a culture that fosters cooking from a younger age has really helped with many of my cooking skills. As a little girl, I would either watch my mom cook and/or assist her with the preparation. By the time I was 8 years old, I already knew how to cook rice and season then bake chicken! Looking back, I really appreciate having those experiences because it gave me a love for cooking early on, as well as an appreciation for the hard work that takes place in the kitchen.
Now that I’m an adult, I am able to share the many different Cambodian dishes with my own little family. But as much as I love my Asian dishes, I also love foods from other parts of the world so I do my best to keep it diverse and cook a little bit of everything in our home. From birria tacos to spaghetti, I strive to cook it all as you’ll see in my recipes.
Origin of inetaplate
The name “inetaplate”, pronounced- I need a plate stems from my nickname “Neta” and for the people who are always asking me for a plate. My loved ones know me for always being in the kitchen and my peers have seen many of my dishes via social media yet I’ve never posted any recipes despite being asked many times for it. It wasn’t because I didn’t want to share, I just didn’t have it written down.
Going into April of 2023, I decided to switch things up and create my very own food blog since cooking, talking and typing are already three things that I enjoy doing. I strive for simplicity and convenience as you will come to find out so my recipes are friendly and not intimidating. I hope you all enjoy the content I have to share and that my recipes give you ideas on what to cook especially during days when your mind is blank and your stomach is on E- bon appetit!
Yours Truly,
Soneta
